The collective sound of music just got fainter. Hours ago on Sunday, January 10th, David Bowie died at the age of 69 after an 18 month battle with cancer, according to Bowie's reps in a statement posted to his official Facebook page.
The message asked for grieving fans to "respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief." Bowie's only son, filmmaker Duncan Jones echoed these sentiments on his personal Twitter account while also sharing an intimate picture of the two on Twitter:
David Bowie released Blackstar, his 26th studio albums in an illustrious 54 year career, two days before his death on Friday, January 8th.
Rest in Power.
